I only made two gifts this Christmas!

I guess I`m the most surprised by this, but I PROMISE....

next year I`ll do better....

For my dear best friends daughter I made the same knitted coat like last year!

This was requested and I knitted the coat in the same yarn and color too, just in larger size :)

I really love this pattern, easy to follow.

It`s Drops Design. I made another hat this time, also a favorite.

The yarn is Drops Merino, extra fine. Bought at Jens Hoff in Trondheim.

The buttons is from work, Stoff og Stil.

The strings is crocheted afterwards,

70 chain stitch then 68 single crochet (fm) on the way back :)

Easy...

A lovely pair, I do hope the little princess liked it.

I had a great time making it.

And than the day before my parents arrived (Tuesday20.),

I started to make a tablerunner for mom.

I finished attaching the binding at work Thursday 22. by hand on the back ...

It is a AnnaKa pattern.

Free hand machine quilting and machine buttonhole stitch...

After the summer holidays Siw at Quiltegaarden got a small Japanese knittingpatternbook in the shop.

I had to bye it!

A brown pair for me and the light grey for Siw to keep in the shop.

Beautiful baby alpaca dk. I used pins number 4, 2 skeins (about 65grams).

I made this for Siw at Quiltegaarden, for her shop.

Knitting-pin-case from a little Japanese book.

Beautiful light fabric on the inside, with a flap and

a strap with lenses sewn together at the end.

The yarn is creme Järbo wool. I used double thread and pins number 5.

Almost the whole skein (100gram), 4 grams left.....

Have anyone had a look at Quiltegaardens yarn blog post?

Did you see the knitted sweater in the back?

I knitted the model for Siw to keep in the shop.

Not the best hairday! But the sweater is wonderful to wear.

It is a Järbo design number 90299 made from Àlafoss Lopi yarn.

I used pins number 4,5 and 6. The sweater is size M.

I used less yarn then the pattern suggested. JUHU!

Siw has this yarn in a large color range in the store.

The inside, pretty cool....

Nicely twisted...

My mother visited in the spring 2011 and I brought her with me to a Anne Pia Godske Rasmussen class. I made her a knitting bag and a sewing case for all those bits and bobs. She sews bunader and wished for a sewing case that would have room for everything she needed on the go!

Well, imagine my surprise when she visited in October...

She didn`t bring any bunader to finish, she brought knitting...a lot of it ;oD

And when she opened her sewing case all the knitting pins and stuff just ran out, all over the table and floor!

So it was just one thing to do. . .

I enlarged the pattern from 100% to 110%.

In the middle ditch I attached a viledon filled scissor and crochet needle case.

There are room for short knitting pins on the left side and room for wire-pins on the right.

And there are several smaller pockets...

One for sewing and one for knitting, lucky lady ;oD

The secret 2011

It`s time to finish the Secret 2011.

I joined in this year too, but had hard time to figure out what to make this time...

Five small fabric pieces and add some applique, the rest is up to each what to sew.

I`m bringing it with me to the family cabin for the summer, hopefully I`ll finish in time...

I`m bringing 2 knits and lots of fabric + stash for the children to get crafty.... and me ;oD

Purple v-neck cardigan

I`ve finished the purple v-neck cardigan for Kirsten.

It`s a joy to see that she loves it...

We had a great photo shoot last night, after 22 in the evening!

Jepp, a joy...

It`s a Rauma pattern 201R number 8.

I made size 10 years, used 180 g Rauma Finullgarn (thin woll).

Needles: 2,5 and 3.

I`ve also sewn her a trouser to go with the cardigan.

It`s a Danish Union-pattern bought at Quiltegaarden, the fabric too.

Pattern number: 20022, size 128.

Love this pattern, if you look closely at the photos you may see that the seam in the side starts in the back and cross over to the front, downwards over the knee. Makes an interesting finish ;oD

Enjoy the day in the sun ;oD it`s gone rain later.....

My first project.....

Working in the candy store makes it hard to not fall for the temptation to by and bring home some goodies...

My first project was to make a new iron-board cover.....

The children thought it was so fun when I put the iron-board upside down!

I`ve been thinking of making a new one ever since I saw kviltStina had made herself one (enjoy Stinas beautiful blog while looking for her iron-board, I believe it was in the fall 2010! ha ha ha couldn't find it in a hurry! ;oD but enjoy ). Beautiful, love her fabrics. I found the pattern or how to make it in an old "alt om handarbeide" a crafting magazine.

Sewing is a lot easier with a clean and nice iron-board... right ladies?

Things have been happening around here lately...

Some of my knitting, quilting, sewing and blogging friends already know...

I`ve got a job!

Hurra....

It`s kind off "back to my roots" experience.....

When I moved to Trondheim over 16 years ago! I had just finished 4 years of sew-and textile education.But things changed and I ended up with an pre-school teacher education as well...

Now I walk threw the forest, down the hill behind our house and take the bus to this lovely place...I hear birds in the morning and both sun and rain make my short walk a bit magic...I`ve seen deer (Bambi!) and squirrels passing the road and heard an owl...When I wait for the bus, I watch the waterfall and enjoy the great view on top of our local power station.

Entering this house in good time before opening....

It`s so nice when you come over to me and say: hallo :)

Fabrics, bottons, zippers, tread and more ALL day long, three days a week.

Life is good ;oD

I`ve been up-dating my opam list, still got problems with adding photos to my blog post....

What to do when fever is high, your head is filled with cotton and
your throat feels like it`s filled with broken glass?

In my case: It`s all about cold relief med`s, lots of tea and knitting....
I boarded the living room sofa with a good view of the rest of the floor and got some serious knitting done. No sleeping beauty here.... The children gave me goooood space... knitting, voiceless and coughing... they easily got my attention, sitting in the middle of everything :oD

I got a tip on trying to blog from Picasa.... so here I go! Is`nt Pink Little Lady beautiful.... If I can find this pattern in larger size I might knit this model for Kirsten (DD) in xs or something close to 9-10 years. I had a bit trouble to fit the lace pattern into the short rows, but when I "got the hang of it" it`s working great. It`s from Drops design for children/baby number 20. Pattern : 20 - 14. Pin 3,5 and Drops baby wool from stash. YeY!

Upset!

I`ve been knitting. This is good, loving it!

Got the plot off short rows... knitting something new, small and pink from stash yarn - very pleased :)

BUT I`m upset!

When I tried to blog the beautiful little thing, I was denied! I can not upload more photos for blogging cause my net-album is FULL! The info that followed with the denied sign said I had to BYE more storage space for my net-album! This is how I found out that: every time you upload a photo in a blog-post it is stored in a net-album (blog-connected!). So if I delete some of these photos in the net-album (for making room for new photos!) they will disappear from my previous blog posts!!!!!!

I`m am seriously provoked! I`m in shock! GRRRRRR!

So now what?

This is not fun for an blog addictive !!! Blogging photos ARE more than half the fun! Is`nt????

I LOVE blog-hopping, looking at what all of you have made, the colors, the patterns, the ideas, going from link-to-link :) Finding something new and exiting. I Love it, there are MANY really great ladies out there making wonderful stuff :) It`s only natural that I like to show photos of what I make too, right? Even my lovely HB bought me a new camera for last Christmas so I could post better photos! (I LOVE him too ;oD )

I`m not a computer genius! I know only a few to-do-things on the computer, so if anyone can tell me how to get back on track I would be ever so grateful.

When that is said!

The sun is shining from an all blue sky on our new 1/2 meter new snow, my youngest is happily home sick in front of the tv! (thank you soooooo for Disney channel!)..... There is dust everywhere, need to do something about that! The dishes need to bee washed, but I`ve dug up an ufo, I haven't been sewing for weeks! I will at least give it a go with the iron!

Annis Shawl

I finished my Annis Shawl Saturday but....

...because I bought the yarn from a friend and the fact she only had one skein of each color I had to use them both. One skein would not be enough. I thought the shawl would be bigger....

The lace will look beautiful stretched out, but I`m not sure of the middle gray part...

The question will be:

How will it look blocked?

Or shall I frog it and knit something else?

I LOVE the Annis Shawl pattern and will absolutely knit it again, in a 100gr skein yarn ;oD

The Setesdal set is done :)

Remember the Setesdal cardigan I knitted for Akin Ola, my dear friend Marit`s son?

Well, now I`m done with the set to go with it.

Pants, socks and a hat :)

The pants were done in January, but I needed to finished the elastic band row.

I did that on Sunday and I made a yarn string too.

I made the hat a bit different. I added a chart from the cardigan, then I knitted the strings and sewed them on.

I love these socks. Grandmother thought me the pattern, and I ALWAYS come back and make

a pair from time to time... It`s the heel... there is ROOM for actually a real heel in there.. ;oD

I`m almost done with my "My Garden" top....

Block 1, The Barrow

So very satisfied, 9 finished blocks.

I had put the dove blocks in the corners and the house in the middle before I read the pattern,

their still not in the same place though :)

Strips leftovers...

Alert! Assembly problems.....

All the log cabin (courthouse steps) sewn around the blocks are sewn the same,

so the seam allowance met in the end....

Not good! I made sure to iron the seam allowance in opposite directions.....

yeyh!

Now I`m hunting threw my stash for border fabric.

Lynette have made a scrappy border from the fabrics she used in the log cabin strips,

but I think it would look better with one more solid border.

Well, I`ve been doing A LOT of thinking (and sewing....) these last days, and finally

made up my mind about what plans to write down for you.....and me.....

Plans I`ve got a chance to follow threw.... ;oD

The DMC for My Garden stitches....

Sewing: I would like to assemble all the My Garden blocks (stitching, applique, attach buttons, log cabin and sew the whole quilt together and make "the sandwich".

Then there is Life..... something sewn will be goooooood ;oD

I would like to finish what I started sewing at the Anne Pia class in February, for mom :)

Knits: Just keep knitting on my sea blue rib delight and pink Eleanor cowl.

I am " kind of reading...." some sock and shawl patterns....... I`ll try to finish the pink cowl first,

but I bought some arwetta yarn from a wonderful knitting lady at the knit cafe in February,

and I would like to use the yarn now, NOT stash it......

Nemesis sock pattern and Little Shells shawl pattern..

I also would like to finish the Setesdal set for Akin, just 1-2cm and the cast of left on the hat...

February Summary :)

February came and went way to fast!

And this is what I`ve been working on threw out February.

My Sea blue rib delight and the pink Eleanor cowl are both coming along nicely.

I`ve finished stitching block 7 and 8 on My Garden, hope I`ll receive number 9 soon :)

AND my In Bloom top is done HURRAY! I`ve made the sandwich too so it`s ready for hand quilting. I`m writing a blog post to show you both Tinas quilt and mine :) She`s started quilting hers.....

The Lipton infusion-herbal smooth is empty! YEY :) and I put the 3 last bags of forest fruit in the regular Lipton box for Tina :) Yes! I`m cheating, but she likes this tea so she can enjoy it the next time she visits ;)

Two weeks ago..... Almost three.....!

My mom arrived on the Monday, we were so exited, but worried.....Two children throwing up.....who`s next? But we were lucky, it ended there...almost! She had bought some children magazines (one each) at the airport, and our youngest enjoied his early Tuesday morning :)

On the Wednesday my dad arrived...SURPRISE! The children were so happy :) And the next day, so was I! They called from the daycare and my husband had to bring our youngest home with a stomach bug.....he had to stay at home for a few days...

Hi mom! Pearl-crafting :)

So it was a good thing dad surprised us! we got a babysitter :) Mom and I got to do all the things we had planed...

First a few slow days, filled with mom`s bunad sewing and me knit and stitch. Then on the Thursday we went to a board-game evening with daughter at her school. The Friday was shopping in Trondheim and quilt-cafe at Quiltegården. Then there were a weekend class by Anne Pia Godske Rassmussen, mom joined in on the Sathurday, she sat in the corner with her bunad-sewing totally amazed by Anne Pia. She bought her book and some fabrics too.....

Sunday was just me at the class. Both mom and dad babysat the children and they made us dinner :) And after dinner mom and grand daughter made creme-buns for all of us :)

We had a great mothers day :) But Valentines day was the saddest ever! When they went home....

Pink Cowl called Eleanor.

At the same knit cafe I tried to start knitting on a pink cowl,

pattern Eleanor by Audrey Knight.

That did not go well.... So I tried again when I got home :)

Yarn by The Natural Dye Studio. BFL Dazzle, called Sugar.

It`s 4ply/Sock yarn bought at Krambua, Meløy.

It took a row and two, then I got "the hang of it"....

Do you see the purple markers? Their made by Mona mono :)

This is the first knit I feel I`ve really got to use them.

Sea blue rib delight

Tuesday 1 February I attended a knit cafe at Sverresborg Museum (here in Trondheim).

I started on a sweater for me in BC yarn, Lucca Fino, 100% super soft merino-woll.

The pattern is made by Jytte Slente, bok: Rib, ret & riller (in Danish).

I`m knitting the one called vandret og lodret.

I bought both yarn and pattern at Krambua in Meløy (their on fb).

I`m in love....

I`ve called it Sea blue rib delight...

Still on my first skein, knitted 360 meter :)

Tea Party update :)

Anne Lise asked me how my Tea party was going......

I do have my daily cup of Twinings Earl Grey....

but I also try to empty some of the rest of the tea stash.

Both the yellow Earl Grey and Blackcurrant are empty... :oD

(both have been refilled and will be in my regular stash).

Four red fruits got 2 left on the photo, but are now down to 1 (1 in my teacup!).

And the Lipton Smooth got 4 bags left.

(These will not be refilled..... :)

My Plan or to do list for February:

Life is a Celebration, need to continue the assembly of the remaining blocks, prepare stitching, applique and button-whole stitch. Cutting block borders for all the blocks...... urgh!

Cut and sew the flower-buds on the In Bloom quilt, and prepare for quilting by making "the sandwich"..

Trace My Garden block 8 and continue stitching on number 7 (this one)....

Finishing the Setesdals hat and socks knit, almost there....

Knit on my new yummy knit: Sea blue rib delight :) and a pink cowl: Eleanore.

Other plans for February is that my mother is visiting from tomorrow until next Tuesday. We will knit, sew, shop, have cafe-lunch and have a lot of fun together with the children :)

A January summary...

Do I need to say that January went way too fast? No? Well it did!

January were filled with creative ciaos.... (Monday 31.01.11)

So how did I do?

GOOOOD :oD

I tidy`d up my sewing room (it still is...tidy...), got a whole lot of weighting yarn done :)

Made 5 finishes: the brown vest, the mittens for me (love them) and got 3 OLD ufo`s done....

I`ve done lot`s of sewing on my "In Bloom" and I`m still stitch`en slowly on "My Garden" blocks.

Been drinking tea from my tea stash too....

And I`ve joined the OPAM 2011 :oD

It feels so good to be able to tell you: In January 2011, I didn`t buy any yarn or fabric!
I`m so proud of myself :oD

I really got some sewing done this last week.

40 leafs appliqued along the four stems....

I truly love these autumn colors.

4 on Monday, 6 on Tuesday, 20 on Wednesday and 10 on Thursday....

On Thursday 27th, my little helper.......

(have`nt got any cats....... :oD )

Now all that`s left is 40 something flower buds!

I feel I`ve really accomplished something awesome this weekend...

Finishing the brown vest for my eldest and then....

finishing off two oldies...

Fingerless mittens and a pouch.

The receipt says it`s bought in February 2008! and I remember knitting them at my in-laws up north....I do understand why they never got finished.... sewing in the loose ends took like forever!

The small pouch was actually the first attempt to knit the mittens, but undoing thin alpaca knit? Not me.... Just started on a new one, on thicker pins I guess and not the middle pattern....

I made a twisted brown yarn band .

Facts:

Pins: 2,5 - 3,5

Weight: 69 grams

Length: 248.4 meter

A baby overall.

Beautiful knitted! Knitted in creme Dale baby woll.

Just some loose ends and the finishing off crochet row around the top line left!

It took about 1 1/2 hour (was watching tv).....

Then I found 2 buttons in my button stash and sewed them in.

I choose plain mother of pearl buttons, this way both girl or boy can wear the overall :)

This one goes in the gift box...

The Brown Vest

Weekend knitting :)

It was a good pattern to follow, but I wish I had pins 6 1/2 to knit the vest with...

Number 7 turned out well and I finished sewing in all the left loose ends this morning.

Sadly my model has left the building, so action photos will come later....

He tried it on Sunday before I knitted the shoulders together and he also choose what he wanted to be the outside and inside of the vest. You can choose before you do the shoulders and sew in the loose ends.

I bought 5 skeins of this yarn in October 2010. Leftover is 1 skein + 16 gram.

I think I`ll ask the young man if he wants a hat or maybe slippers.....

On the Friday evening we sewed a few stitches on "My Garden" bom by Lynette Anderson.

On Saturday evening we finally got to the bias stems, this was really easier said then done!

The first bias got stretched a bit to much, and the glue would not stick and it unraveled!

After a while we (stress) got the "hang" of it, but then the bias wouldnt stick to the quilt top!

We ended up with both the bias tape iron on and baste it on by hand.....

We both have sewn the bias by now :)

It looks great, Tinas too :)

Last Monday (the 10th) I brought all my yarn into the living room. From upstairs, downstairs, behind the sofa and from project bags waiting to be next....

I had no idea that I had so much yarn!

I started to write down labels, how many skeins I had, and for the small leftover yarn I weight them, leaving all items in weight in the last column. This took all day.....

A piece of my living room yarn fest :)

My husband came home early that day! and caught me in the act..... you should have seen his face.... :oD and he said something like: WOW! You were really serious about weighing it all.... really surprised ha ha ha :oD
I`m not sure though what surprised him the most? Me trying to get a grip of my yarn addiction by getting aware of how mush yarn I`ve got, or if he was amazed by me actually doing the tidying, weighing thing I had been talking about, or if it was the scene of all the yarn all over the living room floor :oD .......

I did not know I had 28 skeins of Mandarin Petit! And I who prefer to knit with wool!

Remember these? They are toe-up sock from attending a knit-cafe,

but I kept on getting so many wholes on the toe-tip..... I frogged them!

I`ve got 5 skeins with this brown one and 3 creme skeins,

they will be enough for a baby set or something small .....

Who knew I had more than 40 skeins of Lanett? Or more than 70 skeins of Sisu?

And I`ve got more than 40 skeins of Dale baby wool....

All in all my Yarn stash counts more than 29970 grams......

I know I have a bag with yarn for doll clothes and fabric to match...

And I haven`t weight my thin crochet yarn......

What about all the unfinished garments? Well....

I found a Green cardigan.....

If I`m in luck this might fit my youngest!

It`s a top-down knit and needs arms and the body, buttons and that....

A Blue cardigan, all done, just need to sew the cutting line in the front etc., buttons...

Pulsvarmere, all done!

Just need to sew-in the treads, and make a small pouch of the smallest one...

My Nøstebarn Yarn Shawl.

This is a WISP! I knit on it in between other projects, maybe I`ll finish this year?

The toe-up socks; I frogged them, will use the yarn for another project.

Baby armless overall, just got the crochet edge round the top, buttons, sew in loose ends.

And I have got 2 cardigans that Grandmother made for me, left is sew in buttons,

and sew the knitted band over the raw edge on the inside!

I guess I can manage to finish all of these throughout the year..... don`t you?

I did have some kind of a clean out a bit more than a year ago, and gave my mom some plastic bags with yarn she could knit sock to give away from. But then I just put the yarn back into different bags and boxes and forgot about them! Not this time :) After my BIG yarn fest in the living room I assembled my yarn by label name in different soft bags, for easier storage downstairs in my sewing room.... Yes! Downstairs in my MESS of a room.......

So when I was done with the yarn, I carried them down stairs and kind of ! left them on the side...over there... in a corner... blocking a door! Not a good idea.......

On the Wednesday (the 12th) I had a clean out in the sewing room too.

It took me almost 7 hours!

And trust me: I DID NOT FOLD FABRIC...... I left that for another day.... :) No I was tidying up the MESS... old clothes left there for repair, jeans in a abundance to sew re-design (can`t trow away jeans! NO!) Magazines, books and patterns just left there on my way to do something else. Plastic bags filled with leftovers from classes I`ve been to, or from shopping. Sewing projects stored in way to small plastic boxes....With other words: everything was piled up everywhere......

My motivator you ask? for taking on this huge job? Cousin Tina and her children were arriving on the Friday to spend the weekend with me and my children :)

Knits 2010

I was planning on ensemble all my knitting for 2010 since before new year, but had not got around to it when Daria asked me if I knew how much yarn I used last year. And working with KnitMeter these days I`m totally hooked on weighing my knits :)

I wrote all my knits for 2010 down (opam list, got to love that one) and started to weigh the garments that I have at home, and then I had a look in previous blog posts how much yarn etc I`ve used for the give-away`s.

I counted 34 items!

(pair of booties, socks and slippers count 1 pr.pair) and if we loosely estimate the yarns for the ones I can`t weight now, we are up in about:

3865 grams!

I am amazed :)

I have been through all my project albums and saved 1 photo of my finished knitproject and made the album Knit 2010. This is really a gooood idea, so for the rest of 2011 I will put a photo of my finish in a album for Knit 2011, so when next year arrives the album will be done already :) I`ll do the same for my sew`ings :)

Only 1 photo missing in the Knit 2010 album, the last pair of blue booties I made for my friend Maris son Akin Ola.

Plans for 2011

Well, got my new year resolution of my chest..... So now over to my PLANS for the new year :)
New year resolutions never work! ha ha ha (I`m sticking with the tea....), but PLANS however are a "living thing"....are`nt they? A change of plan is / or sounds better than a change of the new year resolutions......
Plans can be adjusted to "real life!" (family, work etc), you can add new ones, both short or long term (we`re talking fast finishes, gifts and bom`s (block of month), or big quilts/knits).

I have divided my PLANS into this: Sewing Projects, Bom`s, Quilting and Knit.....

And before I start to list up all I need/want to do.....

I need to do some SERIOUS tidying up in my sewing room...

It is a MESS..... fabrics, yarns, patterns, books, stash.... everything.... uhh!
I would like to count/weigh my yarn stash... I`m thinking of adding a KnitMeter on my sidebar, it would be fun to see my stash shrink..... :)
I`m also going to count my ufo`s and planned projects and kits.......
And my fabric stash needs a refold... Love to see them shrink too... :)

The reason for not sewing lately is that I need to prepare more blocks or cut fabrics to applique on all of them! (need to find them in the MESS down stairs, in the coldest room in the house, almost.....)

Sewing Projects I`m working on:

In Bloom: This is from the Japanese inspiration class by Laila. I need to do the applique of the bias strips, leafs and flower buds and then the top is done.....
Cube quilt: The quilt I`m making for my eldest son, also a class by Laila. I need to cut more cubes and sew the blocks together......

Bom`s I`m working on:

Life is a Celebration: Need to prepare 5? or more? blocks, both stitchery and applique (trace, cut, and sew!).
The Wish Quilt: Got 1 block left to stitch, then ALL the applique and patchwork.....
My Garden: Block 5,6 and 7 need to be stitched and all the applique..... (traced them on last Tuesday...)

I have got several quilt tops ready downstairs in my sewing room....
And if I do like Hanne, "a tread a day", I will make progress, and progress is a lot more than nothing... And it is about getting started... (you can`t finish if you don`t start...).
So no deadline, just getting started and maybe...... :)

Quilting I`m working on:

Lailas Garden: I started quilting this one months ago.... Just need to keep on quilting.... and the frame is......where?..... somewhere in the MESS downstairs :)

I knitted a lot last year.... But the PLANS for this years knitting includes my own children......
.... and me! A gray cardigan, a Nøstebarn pattern, I`ve got the yarn down stairs....

Knit`s I`m working on:

Brown vest for my eldest. I love this pattern.... But I`m thinking of rip it up and start over...... I think it`s turning out too small......

Should I re-knit this?

Mittens for me: Joined a revelry group for January only. The pattern is Telemark, have wanted to knit these for years, bought the yarn in October 2010 together with another mitten pattern, but will knit these first With the yarn I bought :)

And then there is the OPAM concept... One word: YES I would love to join this year too.
For me it really worked and what a 2010 list.. I really amazed myself, like "is this really possible"?

I`m still in love with the Early Bird concept...

I would like to finish 1 gift a month to put in my Christmas Gift Box...And I`ve already been giving it a lot of thought what to make and for whom..... there is also birthday gifts to consider.... But before I write my gift list I`m going to give my yarn the "weight over", read threw some patterns and knit books and perhaps make some project bags from stash and see where it takes me.....

...... And I would like to join knit-a-longs! Sock, shawls......

No knit or sew resolutions.... just PLANS...... love them :)

New Year Resolution

Yes! ..... I have one too! But not for either knit or sew...!

My resolution is a bit different....

It`s about tea..... No I have`nt lost the plot.... :)

In our kitchen cupboards, I have a great tea stash..... it`s growing and soon I`m left with no room for anything else.... When we do our grocery shopping, I often end up buying new tea... I mean a new brand, or different taste, something I have no idea if it`s good or not..... They loooook soooo goooood...sight... Well, needless to say, I end up drinking only the "old" one, the reason why I want to try something else in the first place .......

Boring! That`s me!!!!!

But now I`M GOING to enjoy a cup (or 2) every day from my "old" stash.....

I`m only allowed to refill the yellow Twinings Earl Grey

and I need the yellow Lipton for Tina :)

I bought this tea because I wanted the box....

When I opened it the smell was not appealing....

so it`s been in my cupboard looking at me every time I open the cupboard door....

Today I made a small pot, and enjoyed the tea while stitching My Garden.

It was better than expected :)

The Lipton tea are 20bags (x 7boxes), the Twinings are 25bags (x 6boxes) + 1 with 50bags,

there are 5 loos weight and 4 others....

My husbands opinion was that this would last for several months,

and yes! he said it with a great smile :)

So anyone want to join my Tea Party?

Tuesday I got my block 7 for My Garden bom.

In the evening I managed to trace the stitchery`s for block 5,6 and 7!

I`ve also got to iron on the thin stabilizer on the back....

My husband have made me a light box :)

He framed one of the glass shelves from the frigde, attached a light and painted the wood white.

I love it and it works perfectly :)

Wednesday I was ready to attend our local quilt guild meeting.

Friday I did a Friday night sew`in with Tina (on the phone) :)

Sunday morning, slow stitching......

It`s still block 5....

Setesdals Cardigan

Just totally love this one....

Last time I made something you needed to sew on machine and cut open it ended in disaster...

This one I could only wish it was for one of my children!

I LOVE IT!

First 2 parallel strait stitches, then 2 more almost on top, and then zig-zag on top of them....

...no loops can ever escape.....

though love....

I hid the raw edges (cutting edge) with a cotton band I bought at Quiltegaarden ages ago

.... it matched beautifully.

New favorite buttons.

I do hope Mari love this cardigan as much as I do, it really was a lot of work.

And a milestone got passed: I can do it!

I`m thinking of knitting more of these :)

I`m hoping for a new season with OPAM 2011....

This is what I made in December 2010. I had 12 finishes.....Yes! I know.....awesome.... :)

Traveling Woman 4 and 5, Slippers for daughter, gray socks, Setesdal Cardigan and pants,

Pink Cardigan, 3 Scissor keepers, 2 I-phone covers.

Total OPAM finishes this year was 59........ I had to recount!

In September I finished my Traveling Woman 3. And in October i blocked it.

I truly love this one. The most soft yarn, a bit heavy in a really beautiful color way.

Misty blue / purple named Rock Pool by NDS CARESS 4ply/Sock.

It`s Alpaca / Silk 100g-280m. I used a circular pin number 4.

I bought the yarn at Krambua up north :) you can find them on fb.

Well, been there this weekend....

I suddenly realized....

Why I do NOT knit grownup socks....

I`ve lost count of how many times I`ve undone these...

Way to small.....

Now I`ve figured out how to do the toe-up knit!

My mother in-law bought herself a fall coat.

It did`nt close in the front neckline, so for the first time I offered to knit her a shawl!

She loved the idea, we went shopping for yarn and now my Traveling woman 4 is finished and ready for blocking.....

The leftover yarn has been talking to me for several weeks now and yesterday I went for it!

Looking threw many sock patterns I decided on this:

From Drops Number 105, it`s the 41-105.

(the one in the middle).

The yarn is Drops Delight, 75%wool superwash, 25% polyamid.

Needles: 2,5.

I`m not sure if I`ll follow the pattern all the way, but it is exiting to try something new.

The pattern is easy to follow, but I think I`ll knit the cuff shorter and

not knit pattern "under" the foot.

New booties for little boy :)

I knitted these booties for Maris little boy back in June.

The little boy is now 3monts old and have outgrown.! his booties....YES!

His feet is 11cm!

So sweet? little me have knitted a new pair for him,

and on his moms request I knitted the bowstrings....

The new booties is 13cn on the bottom...

A little gift to someone new.....

I have wanted to knit this for a while.....

And now when I found the time and urge, it only took a few hours....

Just love that :)

Yarn: Drops Alpaca, light and medium pink.

Pattern: Drops Babystrikk 0-4år, Number 16.

Pins: Number 5.

Weight: 42g

I crocheted around the hat and the strings to make the bow under the chin.

Making it a bit "fuller" than the "snurly", "twined" strings.

This weekend I finished a hat to go with the sweater.

Size 2-3 years.

I did the top differently, 2 and 2 together to the very end...

It gives a nice finish pattern.

Making cables is not that hard....

You need a extra pin, and remember when to "park" the loops in front of,

or on the back of the knit.

The whole set is 325g.

Its so soft and comfy it will be a joy for young Amanda to wear.

Rauma design, baby 202R

Yarn: Rauma baby garn and Plumet together.

Lovely yarn, soft and warm, feels solid.

Needles: Number 3,5 and 4.

This is by far the best pattern I have knitted from. Easy to reed, understand and follow :)

I will absolutely knit this one again, but not before after Christmas....

Have I told you I`m terrible with names?

Well, I AM!..

Can you hear Tina laugh? or Siw? They know.....among several others :)

This is Unn Marit and Tove (Lailas photo).

The only reason for remembering your name Unn Marit, was that I wrote it down!

And you Tove....We have known each other for over 4 years and it took a long time before I realized your name wasn`t Heidi!!!! Me and Siw had a long talk about that one.... and finally Siw said with the biggest smile laughing, shaking her head: hk there were no Heidi at that class, you must mean Tove. And yes! she was right.....

So every time we meet... not "Heidi" goes threw my mind.... :)

And then there were you :)

I DO know you name, and next time you tell me, I`ll go: Yes!!!!!

I have had the pleasure of attending several classes with you and it is always great to meet again. This time too, I wish I had a better closeup of your blocks, love them.

At Unni`s table

Unni showed us a yellow " pull-the-needle-through-the-fabric" gadget...

I would love the brand name for this one or a link to "were-to-bye"....Hint..hint

You could wear it as a "ring" while sewing,

and use it when you need "help" to pull the needle through the fabric.

Big laughs around the table...

Tina and me, finally at the class....ready to work :)

Laila was amazed that so many of us had assembled the top, or were close to.

This is Tinas first try at this, winding stems.

Mona always blink when photographed......it made us laugh even more...

I must have 4 or 5 blinking photos, and the one Mona looked good in, Berit were blinking!

So I went for this "working" photo, from the side.

Berit had been in Prague and there for has not had the time for sewing.

Mona had really big plans of awesome sewing, but ended up at work, that`s life.

We`re going to do some sew-in together, so they`ll catch up :) .....

Bringing my top to the class, I saw at ones 2 petals that "had to go", so it was rip time for me....

That is the downside with these tiny stitches, they`re hard to rip....

Second flowerquilt class with Laila

I was amazed when we got started on Thursdays class with Laila.

We were 13 or 14 ladies attending this class (2 could not make it the second day).

The quilts are turning out VERY different, trust me :)

Siw, Randi, Unni,+,+,+,+, me, Mona,Tina.Tove (in the back), Berit and Unn Marit.

I`m so sorry for not remember the names on you four ladies,

please someone let me know on e-mail and I`ll fill them in :)

Laila insisted on lots off photos, so we both took several with my camera

(she forgot hers, again.....Laila :) ...).

To wonderful ladies at the first table,

This is the lady on the right`s quilt.

Unni and another wonderful lady. Unni has started working on attach the winding stems and leafs.

Bias maker and vlisofix tape...

I was watching Unni while ironing and then at the cutting table,
do you see the winding stem working it`s way downwards?
Unnis quilt was very hard to take good photos of, my horrible camera had a problem with Unni`s light colors, tried to make it more yellow, but you can still see her beautiful work even if the color isn`t correct.

Unni loves to hand quilt and decided not to do the nine patch,
but some hand quilting in there instead.

I will post more threw out the day :)
Between Laila and me we took about 40 photos! But all didn`t come out that great....
my camera tries to make them very red and yellow!

Getting ready for class.....

You better believe it!

Tina and me had a sew-in on Tuesday.... Tina at her house and me here at home. Calling each other and sending pothos on the mobile phone, laughing and giggling of excitement!

Very grownup :) ha ha ha

Yesterday (Thursday) she arrived early and we finished the quilt top,

meaning we`re ready to applique the stems, leafs and the flower center`s.

We got my daughter (7) to take a photo of " the excited sewers".....

Tina`s to the left, mine to the right.

We bought both small and medium lenses at Quiltegaarden.

These are often used in Japanese patterns to make perfect circles, they give a 3D effect

(Tina was very satisfied with this, she loves the 3D effect, and me too).

Now we`re waiting impatient on the bias maker and the vlisofix band to arrive. As soon as Siw calls me I`m on the bus down town :) and she`ll forward Tina`s in the mail. Tina is thinking about making a table runner to go with the quilt, so I don`t think she`ll "run out" of work.....

There will follow lots of photos in the next post. Both Laila and me used my camera.

I had about 1 1/2 left.....

Now I don`t :)

There are 12 ladies taking this class, now I`m so curious about how far they have come....

I`m attending Laila`s cube class at Quiltegaarden today.

Had to re-read Siw`s mail to ensure it was a sewing machine class.....

If any has had the chance to have a good look at Lailas quilt (see August 31, 2010), you`ll know we are up for a challenge. I`ve spent several hours in the sewing room looking for fabrics to bring, leaving the room today looking like a disaster area..... leaving fabrics and "stuff" on the floor and on top of everything else!

These won a trip in a plastic bag....

Have I lost the plot?

Yes! by all means!

....but as long I`ve got the sewing machine, cutting tools and tread....

I`ve might got a chance to get somewhere....?

Thursday me and my cousin Tina attended a Japanese inspired class
held by Laila at Quiltegaarden.

We were very concentrated....

Tina`s, I love her choice of fabrics :)

These are mine blocks. 6 done and 7 to go.....

I have decided not over-analyze my color choice (petals),
leaving my comfort zone and just "go with it!".

Attaching numbers and sew when I feels it looks ok! I do feel the rust to be a bit too solid, but it`s to late to change my mind now...I`m hoping "the big picture" will look better. I placed the blocks on the table, they don`t look to bad! (See the soft skin-thimble? I have to use it on my very sore middle finger....).

Next class is at 4 November and one of the ladies from the class said we need to make one each day tofinish the flowers in time ...... I have thought alot about this and it would have been fun tomake it, but these flowers are surprisingly very time consuming !.....

These are Tina`s blocks. By now I guess she`s way in number 5 or 6!

She sent me photos on the mobile earlier today, but it`s taken me several hours

to get them from the phone to the laptop!....Brains!!!!!

(my HB had to install something new ? on my machine....well!!??).

I`m very happy to tell you all that the stitchery part of block four is also done.

(had to leave the letter undone till after the applique of the bird).

My cousin Tina are visiting tomorrow, we are attending Lailas quilting class at Quiltegaarden.

We are doing: Japanese inspiration (Lailas version see further down: Sunday ,August 8.2010),

it`s from a beautiful Japanese book.

Tina who also sew this mystery bom and I will do some applique and sew the log-cabin strips

on the My Garden blocks after the class and early next morning.

I`m looking really forward to this.

My Garden.....

This summer I started sewing the bom My Garden by Lynette Anderson.

I made block one at the cabin, just leaving the bird open.

My cousin Tina`s first block and fabrics got lost in the mail, so Siw sent her new fabrics and I lent Tina my pattern, there for no bird on block one!

Last week while mom were visiting I got the urge to catch up on My Garden.

I had a "dive" in the sewing room and found patterns and fabrics, but the stitching fabric was not to be found.... I had a look everywhere, and gave in! knowing I had put it in a special place not to be used for ANYTHING ELSE...

Yes! I do this (ALL THE TIME)..... I need a new head!

On Tuesday, after mom had gone back to Stavanger I had a brainwave..... Yes! Sometimes it happens...ha ha ha and I found the fabric, traced the pattern in the evening, and I have been trying to stitch all week....

Block 2, 3 and 4.

I`m a slow stitch`er and satin stitch is truly killing me......

And what do I do when it turns out wrong? ... I use the scissors!

The stitchery is done, now it`s the paperturn applique...

where did I put the freezer paper.....?

Last Tuesday I casted on a new knit....

It`s a sweater for Amanda.

I LOVE this pattern and this was the first one i wrote on my to-make Christmas list.

Now I`m half way there...

Do you see the markers? I bought many from Mona at Back to Mono =),
I finally got to show a few of them :oD

Ready to knit the front and back together.

I love the shape.

Have a good look at the one bellow......do you see my ups::##!?

Yes! The cable on the arm on top is too small.....

Instead of a 4 row repeat, I knitted 3 row repeat....

Back in business....

The first booties, I made extra long strings so mom can cut them into the length she wants.

Second pair, I think they`ll have a better fit on the foot.

The hat, tried it on a babyborn doll, it did look better on.....

All are from Drops design.

All knitted in Drops Merino Extra Fine.

Used number 4 needles.

Finished these Thursday, but I`m not happy with them!

Tried something else and did`t knit my "usual" pair of booties.....

They`re instead of putting the lops on a tread....

Yesterday evening I made the cast on for a new project!

A little girl was born on Tuesday 14 September.

A little miracle.

Congratulations my Dearest friend.

It`s not the one I bought two weeks ago and have started on!

This is Drops: Merino Extra Fine (100% Merino wool superwash). Thick yarn on size 4 needles.

This is me, doing something I have never done before! I desided I just had to take a plunge and just do it! So I brought Traveling Woman shawls 1 and 2 downstairs and gave them a wash before trying to block them.... Number 1 had a big bleed, tried to take photos of the wash-water, but the photo is not violet enough!

I rinsed them both several times! Just to make sure I got it all out.

Then it was time to block!

To you knitters, is this the way you do it?

Can not wait till they`re dry and I can remove all the pins :)

Early Bird challange for September.

The Early Bird Challenge for September has a "Outdoor" theme.

I`ve knitted a seat pad/base (to sit on!), well I don`t know what a sitteunderlag is in english....

I have tried a new yarn (to me!), Lètt-Lopi, it`s made in Island.

A bit stiff to knit with, but still very beautiful and comfortable result.

How: I did a 85 loop cast on, circular pin 7.

I knitted 15 stripes, 10 row of each color, all together 150 rows.

It measured 59cm width x 55cm long.

I gave it a wash on wool program 40warm, and it grew! to 63cm x 57cm!

Then I tried again this time main program, short 60warm: now it is 44cm x 43cm.

I love it and I will absolutely try this again :)

Knitting and a dinosaur!

Saturday evening, children in bed, just me and my knitting.....

...and a dinosaur.....! Do you see him?

We bought him in Italy this summer, now he has stayed at our living room table ever since!

Everytime I bring him upstairs he has a magic way of getting downstairs again......

Good company for me :)

Just finished the knit in the middle, it`s the Early Bird Challenge for September.

It`s in the washing machine for the second time! It did`nt shrink....!

To the right, the Setesdal cardigan I started on this summer. To the left, something new :) ...

Knitting Bag and Pouch

Last week I finished my new knitting bag and a smaller pouch to go with. The knitting bag is a pattern from one of my favorite designers, danish Anne Pia Godske Rasmussen, the Bali taske (bag). I have enlarged the pattern and I`m very pleased with it. The fabrics is from my favorite part of stash...... I still think of Sølvi and her speech at our quilt meeting (in the early spring I think!). It was about how "the must have" fabric`s becomes old in the stash pile.....
(I`m a great shopper....Yes! ;oD ). So the Sue Bonnet Sue and the dotted fabric is bought at Quiltegaarden ages ago and the lovely rose lining fabric is bought at Krambua this summer. The smaller pouch is a Tilda pattern, she used a shorter zipper, mine is about 30cm. And as you may see, I do stitch (baste) a lot by hand, before I use the sewing machine....
And it turn out so nice it`s worth the extra work.....

Traveling Woman 2

Started to knit Traveling woman 2 in the car on the way home fro Meløy this summer.

And i guess I also used a few hours at home too.

Yarn bought at Willumsen AS in Meløy.

I love casting on something new.....

Knitting in the car, on the ferry and in the car again.....

Ups! Do I have enough yarn?

Made it!

It`s beautiful this lace, and easy to knit.

Early Bird challange for August.

The August Early Bird Challenge was to make a "Keepsake".

The project had to have at least on heart somewhere on it.

I don`t really know what a "keepsake" is, but It has to be something to "keep" something in!!!!

So I made this from the latest Hatched and Patched pattern book, by Anni Downs.

I`m very satisfied with it and the pattern was great to follow.

Now tho the next Early Bird project, a personal gift.....

I have had an amazing evening.

The Ladies were so wonderful, we were talking and laughing....

Good wine, cheese and fruit was waiting for us :) yum.....

I don`t drink much, but I really liked this wine.

We all voted for top three.

It was so hard! It was amazing what these ladies had made.

Fabrics, colors, patterns, the combination's and sizes......

To me there was one..

It had a large star in the middle....

BEAUTIFUL

Really beautiful Margrethe, she got second place. So did Bente so, so beautiful:)

They managed to get even number of votes!

To night is "the night".....

Friday I finished the quilting of "The Secret".

To night is the exhibition.

That meaning it is a exhibition and a contest!

All the projects will be displayed in this beautiful, new restored boathouse.

All the participants will give points to the ones they like the best.

There is 1, 2 and 3. price.

To me it`s not important to win, I all ready have!

How?

Well: I went out of my box and tried something new.

I made plans and pattern and followed threw...

although I ended up with something completely different then I started with....

And most important: I have FINISHED :) oh yes!

It has been an amazing travel, I have learned a lot on the way and I have met many wonderful ladies who share my love for crafting ( both quilting and knitting ).

Thank you so mush for welcoming me ladies, I am ever so grateful :)

Dolls :)

My mother in law gave daughter a new doll when we arrived her in Meløy for her birthday.

A beautiful blond, blue eyed one. She is named Line.

I bought SISU yarn and patterns at Willumsen a/s. Britt and me had a look threw several pattern books for sisu yarn. They sometimes have "baby born" doll pattern included.

SISU pattern 0601 barn.

Even teddy is knitted and have got both jacked and a pants.

But Line, the new doll is only about 32cm long, a lot smaller than "the baby born" dolls.

That meaning serious pattern modification or a new hk Design!

And what is it with dolls without under garments?

Mom?: the doll has no trousers! Can you knit her one?

I love my daughter, some yarn and pins and mom saves the day :)

Whenever I`m traveling I always try to visit the local crafting stores...

I might find something I haven`t already got and don`t know that I need.... Yes! :)

At the moment we`re visiting my In laws in The Northen part of Norway: Meløy.

And smaller places usually got different selection of yarn, patterns and fabric.............

First shopping day in Meløy went to the yarn part of the store Willumsen a/s.

shopping galore.....

I always visit this shop and this year I got a real wonderful surprise...

I started talking with the lovely lady who work there. I`ve been on the lookout for a yarn ball winder, she don`t sell them in the store, but she had hers with her and she showed me how to use it. I asked her if I could take a picture of it, I said I had a blog and I had my camera with me almost everywhere......

She: You have a blog? So do I.... it`s called Meisebo.......

Me: Hi I`m Hanne-Kristine in stitches and loops!...... I have you on my blog list...... :)

It was strange but all so awesome, the connection was there.

We were smiling and talking, and I did do some shopping too.....

Found a ball with Jarbo yarn (mellanraggi) multicolored, the last left..... and a pattern to go with it.

Also bought thick cotton for daughter and a crochet hook, I`m thinking of teaching her to crochet.

I visited again the next day, then with a list of what to by......

... some more yarn, some buttons, pattern and taking more pictures....
