I`ve been knitting lately, trying to finish....

I need 3 more rows of leafs, about 15 cm.

I love this pattern...

At the moment I have about 300 something loops on my circular pin....

I try to knit 2-3 rows a day.....
.....in those quiet moments.... ha ha ha

This week I have focused on "The Secret".
Remember these fabrics?

This is what`s left......

I`ve done good, used almost every little bit.

I`ve made a lot of blocks, started with a few, then something happend
and now I`ve got almost 40!....

So today I had to visit Siw..... and this came home with me.....

Framing and borders...

Now I have to wash the new fabrics, cut and sew the blocks together
and add inner and outer borders.

My little secret... 40 by 40 cm grew to ......
about 1,60 by almost 2 meters!....

My thoughts was: keep it simple, keep it small!

well! obviously not today.... ha ha ha

The day came and went.......

The children`s day....

Children`s parade, amusement park, a lot of hot dog`s and ice creme...

The children had a great day.

My eldest play the clarinet in the school band and wears the band`s blue uniform.

My daughter is wearing a Bunad. It`s a Rogaland Bunad from the Bjerkgrei district.
My mother have bought the fabric, tread and pattern at Nordaker, Stavanger.
She has sewn 6 of these, one for her self, me and my daugther. My cusin and her daugther.
And for my brother`s daughter. The embroidery and the green fabric is the same on all 6, the vest is by own choice. You get to choose from about 7-10 brocade patterned fabrics,
and these in different shades.
Mother choose green wool fabric for The stakk (skirt) and for the apron and the shawl.
You can also choose between a deep blue color or black.

My youngest is wearing a knitted cardigan.
My dearest grandmother knitted this one for my eldest just after he was borne.
She couldn't understand why I wanted size 3 years when he was new born....
I have taken especially good care of this one, so both boys could wear it for the big days,
like yesterday and Christmas and New Years eve and more....
I`m funny that way, little things like this matters a lot to me.

My youngest have discovered that when I`m knitting, it`s usually for "someone"...
So when I told him that his great grandmother, who is in heaven had knitted it
for his brother and him, he grew a few cm and walked tall and proud all day...

I don`t live in the same city as the rest of my family, but they are always with me...

Love you all.

Life Is A Celebration is growing......

I`ve been working to assemble the blocks from both April and May issue of Homespun.

This is April

Finding what fabrics to use is a challenge....

The pattern says to sew all the leafs with sewing machine, but I`m doing
freezer paper applique. I love that technique, so the decision was easy......

This is May

Yummy fabrics, love the birds.

Cutting strips 1/2 inch bias and fusible web tape...

Taking no chances......
I`s worth the work, You might see I`ve drawn on pattern lines....
I`m doing freezer paper applique on this one as well...

Have a great weekend

Booties

Booties for Amanda`s dress

I started on these at Easter, but I`ve been in totally stitching mood
and left them in my knitting bag....

Now they are done and I can send them to a beautiful little girl,
I just hope she have not grown out of her dress yet...

My red work

One more done. Mr Rabbit took only last night and a few hours today.
And without the hoop! Didn`t have time to sew the star round it,
but the next one I do need to sew fabric onto before I stitch it.

My Santa block

I`m happy as can be.....
.....my Santa block is done.....

This one was a lot of work, and it is amazing how much dmc tread I used to finish.
I have already started on the next one, too small for the hoop.. I`m trying to stitch without
the hoop. Did not have time to sew fabric around it, just had to stitch and stitch.....

Shopping at Siw`s

I needed 2 more red DMC nr 221 for my Wish quilt, that meant shoppingtrip to Siw`s store.....

I did bye the 2 reds, and some more fabrics......
They will look good with rest of the fabrics I have chosen for the quilt.

Some have asked me how the quilt will look like finished,
I`ve snapped a photo from the magazine.....

I will do some changes: remove some off the check boards with just larger piece off fabric.
I`ve got two stitchery's left, I need to sew fabric on to them before I can stitch them.
So I`m truly looking forward to lay it all out on the floor to decide witch fabric goes where :oD

Strings attached....

I can`t remember how the song from the movie Pinocchio goes...
...but it ends with something like: "there are no strings on me"...

...mine has got his strings attached.....

Slow stitching...

For three days now I have given my red work more than a thread a day....

.....it is coming along....
And I have managed to stitch a rabbit sitting on two gifts, a doll on a ball
and filled three spots on the giraffes neck with satin stitch.
Satin stitches are just killing me, and on these blocks there are a lot of them.

This morning.....

Look what meet me outside my living room window this morning!

My first thought was: Ohhhhh Noooo!
It`s 4 May, and I`m all so ready for sunny and warm days, spent outside...

Luckily the snow had melted at the playground by the time my day children and I got there...

My first OPAM finish in May.

My first finish for OPAM in May and for sølvi`s finish a ufo-sewing weekend.
I`ve made one for mom and one for me. They were supposed to be done for Christmas 2009, but that didn`t happen so mom got hers for her birthday and mine is done today.
I like this concept, and Lynette Anderson have made a really beautiful design.

Update on Sølvies sew-weekwnd

Joining Sølvi`s finish sewing a ufo weekend was a good idea.

I`m not finished, but close....

All that`s left is blue herringbone stitch across the top and bottom to join them together.

One more butterfly.....

I have enjoyed every stitch of this butterfly block.

Leanne Beasley: Tulip Wreath

Have a look over at Lailas blog. She is making this quilt as well, in other fabrics.
It`s amazing how different it turns out in other colors.....
I love her version, and I hope she posts a lot of photos threw out the making....

Now I`m heading over at Sølvies to sign on to her Finish-a ufo-sewing weekend
I`m thinking about finishing my scissorkeeper, a Lynett Anderson design
(like the one on the photo on the sidebar).
