Early Bird challange for September.

The Early Bird Challenge for September has a "Outdoor" theme.

I`ve knitted a seat pad/base (to sit on!), well I don`t know what a sitteunderlag is in english....

I have tried a new yarn (to me!), Lètt-Lopi, it`s made in Island.
A bit stiff to knit with, but still very beautiful and comfortable result.

How: I did a 85 loop cast on, circular pin 7.
I knitted 15 stripes, 10 row of each color, all together 150 rows.
It measured 59cm width x 55cm long.
I gave it a wash on wool program 40warm, and it grew! to 63cm x 57cm!
Then I tried again this time main program, short 60warm: now it is 44cm x 43cm.

I love it and I will absolutely try this again :)

All the best

Knitting and a dinosaur!

Saturday evening, children in bed, just me and my knitting.....

...and a dinosaur.....! Do you see him?

We bought him in Italy this summer, now he has stayed at our living room table ever since!
Everytime I bring him upstairs he has a magic way of getting downstairs again......
Good company for me :)

Just finished the knit in the middle, it`s the Early Bird Challenge for September.
It`s in the washing machine for the second time! It did`nt shrink....!

To the right, the Setesdal cardigan I started on this summer. To the left, something new :) ...

All the best

Early Bird challange for August.

The August Early Bird Challenge was to make a "Keepsake".
The project had to have at least on heart somewhere on it.

I don`t really know what a "keepsake" is, but It has to be something to "keep" something in!!!!

So I  made this from the latest Hatched and Patched pattern book, by Anni Downs.

I`m very satisfied with it and the pattern was great to follow.

Now tho the next Early Bird project, a personal gift.....

Setesdals cardigan

Still working on the Setesdal cardigan for Maris baby.

Knitting "on the road" (at the ferry).

Started on the arms on Sunday, but...

 It`s knitting - un`doing - re-knitting...
You`re getting the picture?

I`m finally past the problem area and can enjoy some "fast " knitting for a while.......

A new Early Bird projekt

A new knitting project. Still for Maris baby to come, but this time it will be a Christmas gift.
The pattern is Lanett baby number 0812. It`s set number 3, Setesdal cardigan.

The main color is brown, with color pattern in red, purple, cream and turquoise.
Lanett yarn is really thin so I`m using pin 2 and 2.5.

It was my birthday today.....

Thank you all for messages both om mobil and facebook :)

Mom and me went shopping for hours, the rest of the family were babysitters :)

...and dad`s delicious smoked fish dinner.

It has truly been a great day.

Early Bird project 2, a Drawstring bag for Simon.

I have made a drawstring bag to go with the vest I made for Simon.

The stitchery is SO cute :)

The stitchery is from Natalie Birds little book.......
I bought both pattern and the fabrics at Siw`s Quiltegaarden.

...using mothers sewing machine feels kind of strange....
...but it`s great to be allowed.....ha ha ha

The thought was that Simon can use the drawstring bag as a keeper for toys or his nighties....

This is headed strait for the EBCC`s box and I`m very happy :)

Early Bird knitting challange... Project 2

The vest for young Simon i s done.

It has really been a knitting in public project.

 I`ve knitted on the plain

 and boat (ferry?)....3 times!

I knit the shoulders together...

...on the back (inside the vest)

...on front.

This is before I stitch the sides together.

I really liked this pattern and will make this vest for my boys as well.
(but not today... ha ha ha).

My next project is a drawstring bag to go with the vest.
The stitchery is already finished.....

Early Bird sewing challange..... for July.

This month the EBCC challenge was home decor.
I knew right away what to sew and for who. Pillowcases are always a must.....
It`s like somebody eats them! So my challenge was not really what or to who, it was the fabrics...
Can`t use them you see....sight...love them, must have them....you know... ha ha ha
Can you believe I spent almost 2 hours in my sewing room, just to find the fabrics to use?
The first kit I made, I decided on.... well hmmm I`m going to sew it for ME!
The next fabrics kit I made was for mom.

I`m so glad I`ve made this for her.

It may look easy, but those scallops are just killing me.....
All fabrics are from stash...Yey!
But I`ve already been to Siw, and I found more of the rose fabric,
so there are a possibility to make something more to go with.....

A new Early Bird projekt

I have started on a new EBCC. It is a vest for young Simon, size about 2 years.
It`s Drops design, pattern book Baby knit number 17.
The yarn is Drops Merino Extra Fine (100% Merino Wool Superwash). Needles 4mm.

I`v been so happy about it....until I realized I was knitting the wrong size.....

This is as far I had gotten, ready for armholes....

I undid the front and have got this far.... still need to undo the back....

Now I think I might need some more yarn....

The Ladybugs buttons...

Just a last post with the knitted set....
I looked everywhere for ladybugs buttons to go on the little knitted jacket.
Did not want something bright in plastic and was delighted when I found these
"silver look-a-like".
I think they dotted the i.....

The set is knitted is size 0-3 mounts.
With the "summer" we have had so far, this might come really handy....

A journey well traveled.
If you wish to knit for baby, I can absolutely recommend this pattern book from
SandnesGarn (www.sandnesgarn.no
Lanett baby number 0914, sizes 0 - 4 years.

(I used Dalegarn from stash and pin 2.5.)

I will defiantly knit more from this pattern book, I liked several of the patterns.

Early Bird knitting challange.....The first project...

Meet the twins...

Now both doll-bodies are done. I`ve used 31g of yarn from stash, still got more blue left so I will knit something more for the boys but now it`s 01.25 at night time and I`m off to bed.....
I do hope I`ve made the deadline for the E.B challenge....

I finished...
Life is good... ha ha ha

Early Bird sewing challange.....

Finaly done with this little one.

A very large thanks to you Sølvi for telling me how many cm a fat eight of fabric is....
(22x55cm)...

My Early Bird project 1, the Hat.....

The Hat is done.

I`m very satisfied with the finished result, I knitted the top of the hat different from the pattern. I like it nit and tidy, not several loops on a tread. I knit together all the loops and then I sew down the last one.

And since the hat is knitted from one ball of yarn I`m writing it down as  Early Bird knitting challenge 3.

Now I have used 178g from my yarn stash, I still have more left of this yarn both in creme and other colors but absolutely pleased with the dent in stash bag.

Last thing left is to sew the buttons to the small jacket and I`m done with the whole set.

Life is good.

Another Early Bird knitting challenge project......

Well, with my daughter VERY present.... I could not knit on my blue challenge.
What was I to do! Start on another one of course.....

Enjoy the show.....

The challenge was to make "what you like" of one ball of yarn.
I made a pair of booties to go with the little baby jacket.

The day was good :oD

Early Bird knitting challange.....

I`ve been running threw my yarn stash, my knitting patterns,
I`ve been thinking great thought and ended up with......

I`m knitting a body for my daughter`s doll, 2 in fact, she`s got a twin.....
and for the time being their not girls, they are boys!
So the color is blue and I`m knitting in secret.....my daughter does`nt know I`m knitting this for her.....

It`s rather thrilling... hiding the knitting every time she enters....

My Early Bird project 1

My first gift is done.

I`m thinking of wooden buttons.

This small jacket is truly small (0-3 months), but if this summer is
about to rain away it will be needed....

This was a good pattern to knit from and I love the collar.
I like it best when I knit the whole garment together without sewing and cutting for armeholes
or cutting in the front...all I had to do was to sew some loose ends and it was done...

Thinking of a hat and booties to go with it.
