The Ladybugs buttons...

Just a last post with the knitted set....
I looked everywhere for ladybugs buttons to go on the little knitted jacket.
Did not want something bright in plastic and was delighted when I found these
"silver look-a-like".
I think they dotted the i.....

The set is knitted is size 0-3 mounts.
With the "summer" we have had so far, this might come really handy....

A journey well traveled.
If you wish to knit for baby, I can absolutely recommend this pattern book from
SandnesGarn (www.sandnesgarn.no
Lanett baby number 0914, sizes 0 - 4 years.

(I used Dalegarn from stash and pin 2.5.)

I will defiantly knit more from this pattern book, I liked several of the patterns.

Babyshower

Maris babyshower

Today I have attended Maris babyshower.
I`m so grateful to be able to be a part of her growing family.
It was a beautiful day spent with wonderful ladies, enjoying good food,
funny games and the baby gift opening.

She really liked the knitted set and it`s feels great when the recipient are enjoying my work.

Me and Mari

Thank you for inspiring me ;)

Early Bird knitting challange.....The first project...

Meet the twins...

Now both doll-bodies are done. I`ve used 31g of yarn from stash, still got more blue left so I will knit something more for the boys but now it`s 01.25 at night time and I`m off to bed.....
I do hope I`ve made the deadline for the E.B challenge....

I finished...
Life is good... ha ha ha

My Early Bird project 1, the Hat.....

The Hat is done.

I`m very satisfied with the finished result, I knitted the top of the hat different from the pattern. I like it nit and tidy, not several loops on a tread. I knit together all the loops and then I sew down the last one.

And since the hat is knitted from one ball of yarn I`m writing it down as  Early Bird knitting challenge 3.

Now I have used 178g from my yarn stash, I still have more left of this yarn both in creme and other colors but absolutely pleased with the dent in stash bag.

Last thing left is to sew the buttons to the small jacket and I`m done with the whole set.

Life is good.

What is the odds??

What is the odds that my daughter would come running threw the main door: Mom! Mom!.... Could you knit underwear for Sofia!???? I don`t know what my daughter and the next door girl have been talking about! But Sofia was in desperate need of more clothing. Sofia is my daughter`s stuffed fabric doll, a gift several years ago. The hat is a part of her head, can not be remover (same as the shoes), she`s got a t-shirt and a skirt... Yes! A skirt attached with 2 stitches, one in each side of the doll. Daughter removed these after a rather "long talk" with me.... I told her that the skirt would not stay up if she removed the stitches.... I even showed her that the skirt was to wide......

I knitted underpants and I attached an elastic band to the skirt....3 times!

The Sofia doll has only 3mm between her legs and her bum is sticking far out!
That was a challenge, but I think I did well.

The front

The back, I increased loops like I would do for a real baby pants.

Sofia happy as ever....

Sideways with her bum...

The skirt. Elastic band sewn with strait elastic stitches first, did not work and I had to remove...
Then with elastic zig zag stitches, did not work either....

Then I hand stitched over and under the elastic band, like a row pocket. It seams to have done the trick....

Well my daughter also would like a pink dress, long  green pants, a top.....

I`m loving this..... I really am :)

Another Early Bird knitting challenge project......

Well, with my daughter VERY present.... I could not knit on my blue challenge.
What was I to do! Start on another one of course.....

Enjoy the show.....

The challenge was to make "what you like" of one ball of yarn.
I made a pair of booties to go with the little baby jacket.

The day was good :oD

Early Bird knitting challange.....

I`ve been running threw my yarn stash, my knitting patterns,
I`ve been thinking great thought and ended up with......

I`m knitting a body for my daughter`s doll, 2 in fact, she`s got a twin.....
and for the time being their not girls, they are boys!
So the color is blue and I`m knitting in secret.....my daughter does`nt know I`m knitting this for her.....

It`s rather thrilling... hiding the knitting every time she enters....

My Early Bird project 1

My first gift is done.

I`m thinking of wooden buttons.

This small jacket is truly small (0-3 months), but if this summer is
about to rain away it will be needed....

This was a good pattern to knit from and I love the collar.
I like it best when I knit the whole garment together without sewing and cutting for armeholes
or cutting in the front...all I had to do was to sew some loose ends and it was done...

Thinking of a hat and booties to go with it.

Now I wonder how long it will take to sew down the binding by hand?
Well, the weather forecast for the coming weekend is rain, rain, rain so.......?

Have a wonderful day and thank you so much for stopping by :oD

Knitting in public-day.

I read that it is knitting in public-day today.
So I brought my knitting to the playground, and tried to photograph myself.....

well, I got some knitting done, and now I`ve got the whole jacket on the large circular pin.

Now I`m off knitting some more.....
And I`m going to make myself a cup tea too....

Life is good   :oD

The secret............

I didn`t sew the binding on Sunday, no surprise there....
(I`ll post later what happend :oD)

But yesterday I did. I measured and re-measured and sewed the binding onto my quilt.

 I sewed 5 length of 2 1/4inch  together.

 This is 5.35 m binding.

I got this feeling... that something was too short.....

And I was correct..... 28.5 cm to short...... Isn`t that just annoying.....?
But luckily easily fixed.... :oD

It took about 3 hours to peel / rip of the paper border.........

Later today I hope I`ll get the chance to cut off the extra fabric around the quilt and attach the row pocket. Then I can sew down the binding by hand slowly threw out the rest of the week, while I plan how to quilt in the blocks....

Early Bird project 1

Ohh yes...!  I have started on a Early Bird project!
Handmade Christmas gifts made by me may often be something knitted....

So I started with something small for someone not born yet.
His arrival is expected to be at the end of August or early September.

It`a small jacket, size 0-3 months.
The yarn is Baby wool, Dalegarn, 2 1/2 needles.

I`m knitting both arm at ones, it`s easier to keep control over new loops...
(and how many...!) ha ha ha   2 cm left on the arms and then
I`m putting all the loops on the large circular pin.

I may not wait for Christmas to give this one......

My Early Bird journal

I have finally finished my Early Bird Christmas Crafting journal.

I`m very satisfied with the stitchery and the assembly of the whole journal cover,
but I missed one important detail.... enough  seam allowance.....
So the journal got a bit to small, but i squeezed it on!!

I have already written a "to make" list, and now I can start to fill it in on the pages.
I`m also going to keep copies of patterns I`ve used in here for easy assess later...

More quilting

Today`s quilting took about 6 hours! But then again: I`ve got 3 children to watch.......

I quilted the wide outer border. I used Border Made Easy nr 111.
(the thin one in previous post is nr 115).

Yesterday I cut the border and placed them.
The borders has tape on the sides, but I used some pins too.

So I spent today quilting... It`s getting big and harder to handle!

It`s 6 laps to go! It looks great :oD

Mona asked where I buy them and I buy all my borders at Quiltegården
Give Siw a call or send her a mail and she`ll let you know if she`s got the one you want.
And if she doesn`t, I`m sure she`ll order it for you :oD

When it`s about the length of stitches, here I use a bit more than 4.
I read in Rie Norums book, Quiltegleder page 12 to do so, so I did :oD.........
(It`s to give it a more soft look! like hand quilted...)

Later I will rip of the paper and tomorrow is binding day :oD
(I still need to quilt in the blocks, but I`ll do that another day...)

I`m so exited....

 More progress.... oh yes!

Border made easy.....

To sew....

To peel off.....

Oh yes! It`s  a bit like Katate Kid (the movie..) Wax on, wax off.....
Tomorrow it`s sewing down tread ends and attashing the wide, outer border...
Oh yes!!!
Progress in deed....

I LOVE THIS QUILT!
I do....

Smiling good night
