My first April finish.......

My "Smashing good handbag" or Grisefin veske
Do you believe it? I`m amazed that no one have asked what happend with my handbag!.... Well, exept my neighbor, she asked a week ago.... I gave her a big smile and answered: the bag is done, I onley need to attach the handles and the pocket lock.... And this was TRUE, honest.. What I didn`t say was I couldn`t find them......! Typical me.....
After the class at Quiltegaarden I could not remember Where I had put them, or if I had brought them with me home at all...... I have been looking for them since then.... On Monday I found them.... And today I sewed them on.

Ta ta.......

Friends at last......
If my children could stay still like these girls for a photo shoot....

Majella Rush: Family

It`s the first block from March issue of Homespun. By the way I did not receive April
issue last week, maybe I`ll have better luck this week.....

Life Is A Celebration

On Thursday I finished another block from February issue of Homespun.

Gail Pan`s Flowers.

I desided to skip the second block and start on the two from March issue.
This one is small enough to fit in my jacket pocket,
to bring outside while the children play at the playground.

And at home I started on the largest block so far.....
These girls just do not agree with me..... they are really difficult to handle....

Miss Blue started the show, she just would not stick to the fabric.
After re-ironing and a few stitches Miss Pink started too.
Then i had to pin them down. It feels like child abuse....

But I did hurry to finish the faces.....
Now I`ve got the frame and the flower-tops left.

I finished the two blocks from the January issue of Homespun.

Janelle Winds Home

Leanne Beasleys Rose Wreath

I`m now stitching on the blocks from the February issue, and Gail Pan`s block is in the hoop.

April issue of Homespun is due to arrive in my mailbox shortly.....
.......and I still have 3 blocks to go....

Easter trip.....

This Easter my family and I went to visit the in laws up north in Meløy.
It was a long drive 12 hours, hb, me and 3 children in the car. 2 wc stops and a dinner....

It was a blessing to arrive. I`m a southern Norwegian city girl.... I`ll never get just to driving
threw winter winding mountain roads.....

The best part about staying over with our children`s grandparents must be that hb and I got to sleep in....
our early birds woke up the grandparents in stead of us..... Yes, I love them so much.
Good food, babysitters, beautiful Easter weather, new sunglasses what more could I ask for?

A trip to the local quilt shop....

It`s name is Krambua, and it`s more a crafting shop who has a bit of everything.
A quilters/knitters dream come true. I got to visit twice....Yes, I did... :oD

The store is owned and run by about 10 ladies from the local quilt guild.
Laila Krogh is one of them, a really nice lady. We spent 2 hours talking while we had a show and tell. I had brought my red work "the Wish quilt" blocks, the round angel cloth, a knitting and my scissor keeper in the making designed by Lynett Anderson. Laila showed me MANY of her makings both in the shop and on her camera.
I`M amazed.

I guess it`s needles to say I bought A LOT?.... ha ha ha
She had fabrics Siw dosen`t have......

...and YARN! Yarn you can`t by at Jens Hoff in Trondheim.

I bought one of Laila Kroghs own designs, and I`m looking forward to start sewing.

I also bought a kit made by both Laila and Rie Norum. Meløy is Rie Norums homested, and she went to the same school as my hb, (I belive in my brother in laws parallel class, he is a year younger). So the kit is made of scraps from one of Ries quilts ( from her book: Quiltegleder), how cool is that...?

I also signed on to a local competition called "The Secret" (Hemmeligheten). The Quilt guild will have a exhibition at the summer fest days ("sommerfest dagan" ), at the beginning of August.

You need to use all six fabrics (their about 11" x 11"), and there need to be a triangle included.....

I bought four more fabrics to go with.... just in case.... yes! sight.....

My design has been "in my head" ever since, but today it finally came together and down on paper. yay....

Now I only need some "my time" in the sewing room.....

The class....day three - the final

So much to do...... so little time....

Side panel, ready to attach......
....this one, I sewed it on with the wrong side out.....
....and had to remove it....
...tried again

I`ve also quilted the bottom parts, attached the lower part of the bag and more.
But time ran out and it was time to say goodbye.....

Me and Tove, we have taken several classes together and it is always great to meet again.
(the parts for my pocket all done and ready to be attach...).

Me, Johane Gomes our great teacher and Laila, my new crafting friend.
Have a look at her blog, shes got some real nice things in there + her cats, all so beautiful.

At home and the pocket is finally sewed on.

The bottom .....

....needs more curve.....
I`ll be doing this tomorrow.....

The class....day two.....

Then the second day of class is over.....  I was right yesterday... It really is a sewing marathon...ha ha ha.
But it is true Joana Gomes`s handbag is A LOT of work, I`m loving it, great teacher and the ladies attending too.

So what did I do today? ha ha ha
A lot and almost nothing to show... I have told you that I`m a slow stitcher ...
It goes for machine sewing as well.... ha ha ha

The inner pocket, many hidden seams...

I sewed a pocket for my mobile phone.....
....my little pigs...

I had to add some little pig to my "grisefine veske" (gris meaning pig!) ha ha ha

Flap on top, to open and close the bag + hiding where the zippers meet on top.

I also have sewn om the side panels, started on sewing outer pocket and cut peaces for bottom and more...

well, I think I must be satersfied with todays work after all!!! ha ha ha
Afterwords we where six ladies who went out for dinner. Good food and great company :oD
